Local councillors and residents have stopped a lettings agent who took over a local shop without correct planning permission. The shop which used to be part of an electrical retailers suddenly turned into lettings and estate agent “Property Heart’’ at the end of last year. When your local councillors inquired it turned out that they did not have planning permission to make this change. 

Since being contacted by the council the letting agent submitted a planning application. Many residents were concerned about the large number of lettings and estate agents that we already have in Leytonstone and therefore your local councillors and 2 local residents spoke at the Planning Committee. The committee decided not to grant retrospective planning permission and therefore the premises will have to turn back into a shop.

Subsequent reports in the local paper claimed that the letting agent is going to appeal against this decision.  However, the council has not yet received notification of any appeal.
